We exist to enrich the quality of life for the community of San Marcos, CA by connecting philanthropic resources with needs.

Since 1988, the San Marcos Community Foundation has granted nearly one million dollars to local non-profit organizations - all to benefit San Marcos residents.  Committed volunteer leaders continually strive to seek opportunities to strengthen our community and the non-profit organizations serving it- and look for partners to assist in adding to the fund.  With additional resources - be it from current gifts or donations to our endowment, we can do even more to improve the quality of life in San Marcos, CA.

The foundation was established by a resolution of the San Marcos City Council on October 27, 1987.  It is independently administered by a Board of Directors appointed by the City Council for two-year terms.  The endowment fund originates from a one million dollar contribution by the builders of the North County Energy and Resource Recovery Center.
